Eggshell Touch Up Paint Pot for Skirting, Architrave, and other MDF mouldings.
If you order MDF products from us in an Eggshell finish, you may be interested in ordering an Eggshell paint-pot. These are used for touching up the skirting or architrave where you have made joins. All of the paint we use is Morrells and is applied finely through a spray gun. Skirting UK has a specially trained technician who sprays all of our products in our Birmingham warehouse.
Important Note Regarding Touch-Up Paint Sheen:
While we provide touch-up paint that is the exact same pre-catalyzed eggshell formulation used in our warehouse spray applications, it’s important to understand that slight variations in sheen can occur between factory-applied finishes and brush-applied touch-ups.
Factors Affecting Sheen:
- Application Method: Our warehouse spray application produces a consistently thin and even layer. Brush application, used for touch-ups, can result in slightly thicker paint films, which may appear glossier.
- Surface Preparation: On-site touch-ups may be applied over surfaces that are not as consistently prepared as those in our controlled warehouse environment.
- Drying Conditions: Variations in temperature and humidity on-site can affect the paint’s drying and final sheen. Wet paint will also appear much more shiny than dry paint.
- Product Settling: Even pre-catalyzed paints can settle over time. Thoroughly mixing the touch-up paint before application is crucial for achieving the intended finish.
- Lighting conditions: The light in different rooms, and the amount of light will affect how the paint looks.
Recommendations for Optimal Results:
- Apply the touch-up paint in thin, even layers.
- Ensure the surface is clean and free of dust before application.
- Thoroughly mix the paint before each use.
- Allow the paint to fully dry between coats.
- Observe the touch up after it is fully dried, as wet paint is much more reflective.
We strive to provide a seamless touch-up experience. By understanding these factors, you can achieve the best possible results and maintain the beautiful Eggshell finish of your skirting boards.

Please note that the finishes at Skirting UK are applied once the MDF has been primed and sanded two times. The eggshell paint should not be applied to the raw MDF and this paint should not be purchased to paint whole lengths of your skirting board/architrave/dado rail and instead just to touch up your products. If you would like an Eggshell finish on your products, please choose the option under ‘Finishes’ before adding them to the basket.
Please dab very lightly when applying this paint, we do not recommend ‘painting’ this on because it may leave stroke marks on the surface of the product.
