The Square Window Sill board is our most simplistic style of window sills. Easy for the customer to work with and creates a clean and minimalistic feel. All our products are made to order using high-quality, moisture-resistant MDF. This allows us to create the window board you want, from an array of sizes and finishes

Product Overview and Details:

They are created using high-quality, moisture-resistant MDF. All our products are made to order, meaning we can create the product you want! Choose from a selection of sizes and finishes (unprimed, primed, gloss, satin, and eggshell)! The painted sides will be the front face, top face and bottom face.

When ordering your Window Board, you’ll be asked to specify the Width, Depth, and Length.

• The Width is the amount the board will extend outward from the window/the distance from the window to the outer edge of the board.
• The Depth is the thickness of the board, typically measured vertically.
• The Length is typically the longest dimension, running parallel to the wall.

What is the Purpose of a Window Sill?

Almost every window you come across will have a windowsill installed, and this is for good reason. One of the key elements of a window frame is a window sill, which is essential to the structure. It aids in holding together the formation of a window. Additionally, it has several protective traits such as eliminating the likelihood of water seeping in through your window by creating a further barrier to openings. Furthermore, it also acts as a barricade to oncoming hazards. For instance, if someone was to trip, the fitted window board can prevent you from knocking into the window preventing shatter.
Although, for many of our interior design lovers, practicalness is not where this window board’s purposes end. Our range of window boards can allow you to unlock endless methods of styling. Perhaps you keep it simple, by displaying a fresh vase of flowers, or you repurpose this moulding as your WFH office workspace.

Should I use Wood or MDF Window Boards?

At Skirting UK, all of our mouldings are precision engineered, using the finest, industrial grade, moisture-resistant MDF. This is a much easier material to work with than real wood. Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) is a man-made product, meaning there are no natural imperfections to contend with. This is perfect for interior mouldings like Windowsills, as it means you are left with a perfectly smooth finish every time. This also gives the potential for a lovely paint finish.

Pre-painted Window Sills

Want to add more of a wow factor, whilst also saving time and effort? Order your window boards pre-finished. Choose from Eggshell, Satin or Gloss. This will make the installation of your window board easy and hassle-free. Our spray technician applies 2 layers of white primer paint, using a spray gun, creating the perfect undercoat. After a process of sanding and prepping, your chosen top coat is also applied. We use a solution from our trusted paint supplier, Morrells Woodfinishes.
Please note: The painted sides of your Window Board will be the front edge, top surface and bottom surface. The side edge and back edge are not painted for installation purposes.  Please enquire by email (enquiries@skirtinguk.com) if you require these painted before placing an order.
