MDF Royal Picture Rail

The Royal Picture Rail is a great moulding, perfect for a period-style home with tall ceilings. The picture rail comes in one set size of 45mm x 18mm x 2950mm.

Please note: The length is listed as 2950mm, but will be supplied as 3050mm. You may be required to cut 50mm from each end of your picture rails to remove moulding flutter.  We avoid removing this before shipment, to protect the ends of the boards during transit. This allows your ordered length to have a higher chance of being intact on arrival. Royal Picture Rail is a dainty, delicate moulding, so we do what we can to ensure your product meets satisfaction.

How are Picture Rails used?

Picture rails are traditionally used for displaying pictures around the room, due to the wedge along the top of the profile. In most cases, the picture rails are positioned between 300mm and 500mm from the ceiling. Typically, the taller the ceiling, the greater the distance will be from the ceiling. If you do have taller rooms, then picture rails are a great way to break up space in the wall.

In many cases, we have seen customers painting the picture rail and the wall above it the same colour, contrasting with the bottom section of the room. Alternatively, and more traditionally, customers keep the picture rail white (You can order it finished in white gloss, satin or eggshell from Skirting UK) and paint the walls a different colour.

What is our Picture Rail made from?

All our MDF mouldings including the Royal picture rail are made to order using high-quality, industrial-grade, moisture-resistant MDF. We have locally sourced suppliers, who deliver our boards daily. This allows us to manufacture your products, to the dimensions you choose quickly and efficiently.

If you opt for your picture rail to be painted, this is also done in our warehouse. The paints that we use are top standard and are sprayed proficiently by one of our expert spray technicians.
