Can I order painted panelling strips?

Yes, you can order your railing already painted! Skirting UK offers a variety of painting services. You can choose to either order your products with us unprimed, and you can complete all the priming, sanding, and painting yourself. Alternatively, you can save plenty of time and hassle and take advantage of the painting services we offer.

• Unprimed – Supplied as the Raw MDF board. We will cut, and mould your products, but no paint or paint prep will be applied, so please be aware, that due to the density of MDF, you will need to apply a primer coat before any finish coat is applied yourself.
• Primed – We hand spray 2 layers of White oil-based primer to the products, sanded down between coats.
• Eggshell (15%) – Two coats of white primer are applied, and then one top coat of white Eggshell, paint creates a sleek matte finish.
• Satin (40%) – Two coats of white primer are applied and then one top coat of white Satin paint, creates a smooth velvety finish.
• Gloss (70%) – Two coats of white primer are applied and then one top coat of white Gloss paint, creates a quality soft shine finish.

The colour of our paint is a British Standard BS4800 00E55 White. We use an oil-based paint, sourced locally. Touch up paint pots are available on our site incase you need to fix any mitres or cuts with the matching paint used here at SkirtingUK.

Application Ideas

• Install horizontally at mid-wall height as a dado rail, and then panel below for a refined look.

• Use vertically and horizontally to create elegant panel moulding layouts on living-room, dining-room or hallway walls.

• Combine with skirting boards and architraves for a full period-style wall architecture — ideal in Georgian, Victorian or Edwardian homes, or to bring heritage character to new-builds.

Installation & Finish Notes

1. Pre-measure your wall lengths (including returns) and order allowing for mitres and joints.

2. Fix the Olympia railings using recommended adhesive and finishing nails, making sure walls are plumb and level.

3. For best results apply a full coat of filler to joints, sand smooth, then prime (if un-finished) and paint your desired finish.

4. When ordering in a paint finish, all profiles are sprayed by our in-house technicians — giving you a smooth, even coverage ready to install.
